How we started
Tula & Oak was founded by a husband and wife team, who shared a passion for the great outdoors and a love of the Smokey Mountains. They started small, with just a few cabin rentals, but their goal was always the same: to provide their guests with the best possible vacation experience. Over the years, they've grown and expanded their offerings, but their commitment to quality and customer service has never wavered. They're proud to be a family-owned business and they look forward to welcoming you to the Smokey Mountains.
Our story
We were captivated by the love story of Nocatula and Conestoga. These two trees grew together on the campus of Wesleyan College in Athens, Tennessee. Local legend says that they were planted by a Cherokee chief to commemorate the tragic love story of his daughter and a wounded English soldier. Using this tale of love and sacrifice, they named their vacation rental business after the two trees that symbolized it. Even though the original trees are long gone, the legacy of Nocatula and Conestoga lives on through Tula & Oak.
